So many things, in so many ways, wrong with allowing the use of horses as meat animals in our nation. Although many people say, Well, they used to eat horses,”back in the day”, my grandma remembers…Yes, they did. During the World Wars, meat was scarce. But many of our modern drugs had not yet been invented, and so it was safe to use that meat as a food source even though it was distressing to think about. That is no longer true. The commonly used medicines in companion horses can linger in them for years and sicken, even kill people and pets who may consume that meat. As a reasonable end to life? No, never, no just reward for services rendered. Fear, suffering, days of confusion, thirst, hunger and pain, ending in terror and agony. We outlawed that for our enemies, how can we allow it for our friends? Euthanasia is Latin for “good death”, be kind enough to choose that for that loyal soul’s last day. As a comfort and removal of anxiety for our population as a whole, yes, let us choose that. Never let another senior, or child, or widow with children, lose yet another one dear to them and have no proof against the greatest fear that that one too, goes off to a horrific final day. Let us be able to honestly comfort the grieving with, Don’t worry, they can’t go to slaughter any more. Please call your legislators and urge them to outlaw slaughter permanently in the USA.

Hi: Thanks for this! I heard a slaughterhouse had opened in USA recently... Also, another thing's been bothering me for a long time- thoroughbred euthanasia. When Barbaro was put down everone acted like it was the horse's benefit (he 'wouldn't be happy'...). Then i found out that by law all thoroughbreds must mate without 'artificial means' - the elephant in the room! So it seems his 'owners' KILLED him the day they learned that they wouldn't be able to 'pimp him out' as the most expensive stud in history. Or am i wrong? Blessings, Jim

I am working with the EU to stop buying tainted horsemeat. LAST WEEK, I READ ON LINE THAT THE WASHINGTON LOBBIESTS PUSHED TO SELL EUROPE TAINTED HORSEMEAT. UNBELIEVABLE. NOT ABLE TO GET PRESIDENT OBAMA TO STOP IT, I INFORMED THE EU THAT THE US DOES NOT HAVE A DRUG RECORDING SYSTEM FOR HORSES, AS DOES EUROPE. ALSO, RACE HORSES HAVE BEEN SLAUGHTERED WITH BUTE ON BOARD. IF THE EUROPEANS STOP BUYING IT, THEN THE DEMAND WILL CEASE . I ASKED OBAMA TO SHUT THE SLAUGHTER HOUSES DOWN. TO SELL TAINTED HORSE MEAT TO EUROPE IS CRIMAL. THIS MAY BE THE KEY TO SAVING AMERICA'S HORSES FROM A CRUEL AND HORRIFYING DEATH. EQUALLY SAD ARE THE CHILDREN WHO GET APLASTIC ANEMIA FROM TAINTED HORSEMEAT.

I have sent via e-mail your link to President Obama, to the French Agricultural Ministry and the the Euopean Union. They need to see the holes in the system such as race horeses who commonly get Bute and then are slaughtered for horse meat, etc. I am hoping that the EU will cease American horse slaughter immeidately, due to the incertainties. Nearly every American horse has had Bute one time or another. But this tabood substance still passes to Europe. They will see your website tomorrow, and know the truth. This is the only way to shut down horse slaughtering...it harms human health. Thanks for this webwite, that may just be the way to shut them down. Thanks, Linda
